about

This was the first time Thanatos had played live as a band in 8 years. The show was inspired when Greg Lucas and I went to see The Ramones documentary. Greg told me something that stuck with me that night about how when we do music we are contributing to culture, our culture, even in a little way. It resonated. The reason this is more of a "rock" show is because of Greg's guitars and Vince Grech on drums.

I lived in Florida at this time but flew up to practice. They tried to practice without me but said it was sort of pointless so we went into this show with maybe three practices. It isnt perfect but its pretty good in my biased opinion. My son was about 7 at the time and he came to watch us sound check too. This is the OLD Bottom Lounge that was by the Belmont El stop. I am pretty sure Scary Lady Sarah was the one who booked the show....(along with most of the other Chicago shows we did).

about

Thanatos Chicago, Illinois

Thanatos began in the mid 1980s as an acoustic/electronic collaboration by Sam Rosenthal and myself (Patrick Ogle). We released a cassette back then then followed it in 1993 with "This Endless Night Inside" and two years later with "An Embassy To Gaius."

The band's third and final release for Projekt was 1997's "Blisters" which featured myself and guitarist William Tucker (and a little of Sam).
